Dr. Jennifer Hoffarth, Licensed Psychologist, was born in Des Moines, IA. She moved with her family to the Langdon, ND area in 1996 and later graduated from Langdon High School. She completed her B.A. in Psychology at the University of North Dakota. She then moved to Hays, KS and earned her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Fort Hays State University. She later completed her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree at the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University – Twin Cities. Post-Doctoral residency training was completed at the Minnesota Consortium for Advanced Rural Psychology Training in Detroit Lakes, MN and at Blooming Prairie Assessment & Therapy Center in Devils Lake, ND.
Dr. Hoffarth joined the staff of Blooming Prairie Assessment & Therapy Center, P.C. in October 2013. She has had past clinical experience/training in a wide variety of settings; including tribal mental health, IHS mental health, a Fetal Alcohol Syndrome diagnostic clinic, a domestic violence shelter, nursing home, university counseling centers, child and adolescent day-treatment, and assessment-focused practice settings.
Dr. Hoffarth utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches in therapy, including cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, and solutions focused therapy. She also has had level II training in EMDR, which is used to treat trauma. Dr. Hoffarth often emphasizes cognitive-behavioral strategies in therapy, aimed at challenging thoughts in order to improve how one feels. Self-care, relaxation skills, and communication strategies are also seen as important factors in maintaining balance and healthy boundaries in one’s daily life. Dr. Hoffarth sees clients of all ages in both Devils Lake and Langdon.
